Design Team in PlaceThe Board of Directors of the Virginia United Methodist Assembly Center has been working closely with the Design Build Team of Kenbridge Construction and Baskervill Design to design a facility that will provide renovated rooms and new space to serve the needs of the Virginia Annual Conference. First will come the renovation of the current building and upgrades to the HVAC system. The kitchen will be redesigned and able to accommodate cooking for a larger number of people. We are working on an energy efficiency strategy, which will allow us to participate in various rural energy grants and other incentives, which will support the cost of the project. The utmost care will be given to preserving the outside appearance of the building in keeping with the historic features of Blackstone. VUMAC’s Capital Campaign is in full swing with Jerry Callis and Ron Hardman as Campaign Co-Chairs. We have plans from our architect for renovation to come first with additions, possibly in phases if needed As stated by a Virginia Annual Conference member “Blackstone has been our meeting place for half a century-it has been a great servant for us. Now we need to renovate and expand it, no too ways about it. It needs TLC and a bigger, more prominent role.” With your leadership and financial support, Blackstone will continue to enable guests of all ages to benefit from the unique and life-changing experience at Blackstone. An investment in the future of Blackstone will ensure this experience is available for generations to come. Donors or their memorial and honorary designates will be recognized for their cumulative gifts to the campaign on a permanent campus landmark.
